PlayStation Portal Arrives in Brazil: Freedom or Luxury for a Big Price?
– All in one GAME updates, New game release, 2024 games, upcoming games, trending games, latest discovery and game reviews.

So, Sony decided that it's not enough to have a PlayStation 5, you also need to take it for a walk. Arriving in Brazilian stores on June 28th for a modest R$1499.90, the PlayStation Portal Remote Player promises to give gamers the freedom to play away from the TV without losing the essence of the PS5. But the question remains: is it worth shelling out all that money to play on the balcony?

Pre-sales are already underway, and it seems that Sony is not messing around, integrating this release into the PS5 ecosystem. The idea is that you feel like you have the console in the palm of your hand, but does that justify the price of almost minimum wage?

Portability at a Price

The PlayStation Portal comes with an 8-inch Full HD LCD screen that supports 1080p gaming at 60fps. This sounds good for those who want total flexibility, playing PS4 and PS5 titles outside of the range of a TV, as long as you're connected to reliable Wi-Fi. They suggest at least 5 Mbps, but recommend 15 Mbps to really enjoy it. So, if your internet is slower than a bank queue, this might not be the best option.

Mobile Immersion, But Not That Much

Who is this toy for?

Portal can be a great help in homes where the TV is the battleground for attention, allowing you to play games without interrupting the family movie. But, thinking about it, for this price, is it worth investing in another TV or even upgrading your current setup?

In short, PlayStation Portal is one of those innovations that you either love or question who really needs it. Portability has its charm, especially for those who don't want to be tied to a TV. But for almost R$1500, you'd better really love the idea of playing anywhere, or maybe wait for a promotion – because, let's be honest, everything goes on sale eventually, right?
