Trump and Biden decide to hold a debate before the elections

Trump, the Republican who will contest the elections again this year, called Biden for a debate before the elections and the Democrat, current president of the United States, accepted the proposal. Biden's acceptance reflects his willingness to directly confront his opponent while Trump sees the debate as an opportunity to reinforce his support base and win over undecided voters.

Biden responds in interview

After the eighth day of the trial, Republican Donald Trump took advantage of a moment with journalists to propose a debate to Biden, stating that he would be ready to hold it. Trump's proposal was clearly accepted for the first time during an interview with radio host Howard Stern, this past Friday (26).

“I'm happy to debate with him”Biden said during an interview.

Trump's response

Meanwhile, Donald Trump published on his social network, Truth Social, dates that the two could discuss even before the elections, so that Biden could choose the ones that would best fit his agenda. Furthermore, in total, three debates have already been scheduled by the United States Election Debate Commission for the months of September and October 2024.

Over the past few weeks, Trump has been challenging Biden to a confrontation, declaring that it could be “Anytime, Anywhere”but at the same time he himself refused to debate rivals before the Republican primaries a month ago.

Electoral dispute

With the decision of the United States Supreme Court, Trump is free to compete for Biden's place in the White House, therefore being a pre-candidate. The sentence that ordered Trump to remain out of the elections had been given by the Colorado state court, but the former president's defense filed an appeal and managed to reverse that sentence. The decision that did not make his participation in the elections possible had been taken at the beginning of the process in which Donald Trump is accused of having planned to change the results of the last elections in 2020, when he lost to current president Joe Biden.
