Disney's classic, the 1942 animated film “Bambi”, is about to undergo a “modernization” in its next live-action version, which does not yet have a confirmed release date.
The person bringing this information is screenwriter Lindsey Anderson Beer (“Cemitério Maldito: Inception”, 2023), who recently left the live-action project.
In a recent interview with Collider, Lindsey mentions that many kids today haven't seen the 1942 classic, and that he was looking for a way to connect today's kids to the story of the deer. Although she didn't go into detail about the script, Lindsey hints that this change is related to how Bambi deals with the death of his mother, an event caused by a hunter in the original story. This scene is considered “heavy” by today's standards, as both children and parents are more sensitive these days, according to Beer. Check out the full interview, in English:

It is worth mentioning that Disney has made changes to the most recent adaptations of its classics, such as “Peter Pan” and “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, which have not even been released yet, but are already facing criticism from the public on social media.
Production
Sarah Polley, winner of the Oscar for “Best Adapted Screenplay” for “Between Women” (2022), is in negotiations to take on the direction of the project, according to Deadline. Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster, known for films such as “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” (2019) and “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” (2019), have already written a preliminary version of the script, which was also written by Lindsey Anderson Beer and Robertson-Dworet (“Captain Marvel”, 2019). Brothers Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz (“American Pie” franchise) will produce.
The film's soundtrack will be composed by six-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves.
So far, no information about the cast or the start date of filming has been released.
