Cynthia Erivo says he participated in music creation for “Wicked: For Good”

This Thursday (26), Variety released the interview that Cynthia Erivo gave to the podcast “Variety Awards Circuit”. During the conversation, the 37 -year -old actress and singer revealed that she helped write one of the unreleased songs that will be part of the continuation of “Wiced”. Cynthia also talked about how she feels about Elphaba, the character the actress plays in the musical.

New songs

As in the first movie, protagonists Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are expected to spare their voices to the musical sequence. Erivo confirmed that unpublished songs are included in the next movie, and even co-wrote one of the songs alongside composer Stephen Schwartz. “I collaborated in one of the new songs, and she is very special to me. When we recorded, the whole team was in tears”She commented, revealing that the song talks about who Elphaba really is.

About Elphaba

“Elphaba is not bad. None of the characters are purely good or bad”She said, reflecting on how the story makes us think about how we put labels on us and other people, and how we should have more empathy and understanding.

She also revealed that for the construction of Elphaba, Cynthia was based on the very experiences she lived, saying she knows what it's like to enter an environment where she is not welcome. “I know what it is like to be intimidated, to feel rejected, to feel that you are not loved. Bringing these memories was not easy, but it was necessary to show the vulnerability and resilience of Elphaba”She shared.

Wicked: For Good

The sequel to the successful musical has already been confirmed and is scheduled to debut for November 21, 2025. In addition to Erivo, other members of the first film, such as Ariana Grande, Ethan Slater, Peter Dinklage and Jonathan Bailey have also had their own confirmed participation in the sequence.
