Kate Moss testifies that Jonny Depp did not push her down the stairs in the 90s

Supermodel Kate Moss, Jonny Depp's ex-girlfriend, testified Wednesday that Depp did not push her down a flight of stairs during their relationship in the 1990s. The model was called to deny the story, which had become a long-running rumor, as Depp's defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard neared its conclusion in Fairfax, Virginia. Moss appeared via video feed from Gloucestershire, England, and testified for about five minutes.

The actor is suing Heard for making false allegations against him involving domestic abuse and publishing them in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed. Depp denies hitting Heard, while fellow actress Heard has offered photos of bruises and other evidence to support her claim that the actor was frequently violent. She is suing him over his lawyer's claim that her allegations are a “hoax.”

The trial has been ongoing since April 11 and the closing arguments are scheduled for Friday, May 27. Please note that the trial is being recorded and can be accessed through various online platforms.

The actress mentioned Moss during her four-day testimony in early May. Heard described a 2015 incident in which Depp allegedly punched her in the face on a staircase during an argument at the couple's downtown Los Angeles apartment. Heard claims Depp ran upstairs and hit her sister, and that she feared Depp would push her sister down the stairs.

“I instantly thought of Kate Moss and the ladder and snapped at him”says Heard.

Depp's lawyers are presenting rebuttal evidence and called Moss as their first witness on Wednesday morning. Moss said she and Depp dated from 1994 to 1998, and that the alleged staircase incident occurred when the couple traveled to a resort in Jamaica.

“There was a storm”, she said. “When I left the room, I slipped down the stairs and hurt my back.”

Moss claims she screamed and Depp carried her to their room and received medical attention. “He never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down the stairs.”the model testified.

Heard's lawyers proceeded without questioning the model.

Last week, Heard's lawyers brought a deposition from Ellen Barkin, who testified that she had a brief sexual relationship with Depp in the 1990s. She claims that Depp once became angry and threw a bottle at her in a Las Vegas hotel room. “He's just a jealous man,” Barkin completed.
