On Wednesday night (19), country singer Chrystian passed away at the age of 67, shortly after being admitted to Hospital Samaritano, in São Paulo. The news was given by the countryman's family and team. The singer was diagnosed months ago with a genetic disease called “Polycystic Kidney”.

Death of the singer

In February, the singer announced that he would need to undergo a kidney transplant, in which his wife, Key Vieira, would be the donor. However, a few days later, the surgery was canceled in order to carry out another medical procedure. Chrystian was a country duo with his brother Ralf, and they were very successful during the 80s and 90s, throughout their career the duo released 20 albums, as well as compilations and DVDs. But in 2021, the brothers decided to separate, to pursue solo career.

Singer Ralf made a point of reporting about his brother's death on his social networks “We always did our best. Given our commitments, unfortunately we were unable to say goodbye. But I'm sure that our father will guide you into the light with the Lord Jesus”, said Ralf on his Instagram.

Polycystic kidney

It is a polycystic kidney syndrome, responsible for a hereditary disorder. It causes cysts, which are abnormal bubble-shaped formations that may contain fluid. The genetic disease is considered rare, and is generally transmitted from parents to children. Polycystic kidney disease progresses more slowly, and most diagnosed patients do not always recognize the symptoms of the disease.

According to the North American hospital, Mayo Clinic, symptoms can vary, from pain in the back or side of the body; blood in the urine; high blood pressure, feeling of a full abdomen, enlarged abdomen; headaches; kidney stones; renal insufficiency; kidney or urinary tract infections.

After the patient discovers that they have symptoms of the disease, it is necessary to seek medical assistance immediately. The diagnosis of this rare disease is that there is no cure, but treatment with specific medication can be carried out to lead a normal life.
