91-year-old man fights serious illness and surprises doctors!

Septicemia, also called Sepsis, happens when there is widespread inflammation in the human body, either by fungi, bacteria or viruses, causing a change in the functioning of the organs. That’s what happened to the 91-year-old actor Stênio Garcia, who is hospitalized in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.

Stênio Garcia’s condition is considered good, and according to the medical bulletin released by the hospital, his vital signs are good. At the moment he is taking antibiotics and has had a slight improvement in the condition, but with no forecast of medical discharge.

Sepsis is considered a serious illness, symptoms can appear very quickly and are more frequent after surgery or an infection in the body. If not treated quickly and completely, it can get worse, generating a more serious condition of septic shock, which can lead to death.

The disease can appear in anyone, of any age, if they have a disease due to an infection that is not treated correctly, for example, urinary tract infection, pneumonia. They are more common in the elderly, due to the fragility of the immune system, but they also affect younger people and babies.

Treatment of Septicemia

Treatment consists of hospitalization and should be started as soon as possible. If it is bacterial infection, the use of antibiotics in the vein is indicated to control the disease.

If it is proven that the disease is related to infection by fungi or viruses, other remedies will be used in the hospital. Fluid intake is important during treatment to regulate body functions.

Stênio Garcia is 91 years old and in the last month he underwent facial harmonization, but there is still no information on whether the infection is related to the procedure performed.
