Internacional is looking for new directions after the tragedy in RS
– international sports, latest sports news, local games and international games

Internacional, one of the main football clubs in Rio Grande do Sul, is facing a challenging situation. After the recent floods that hit Porto Alegre and caused significant damage to the Beira-Rio Stadium, according to information from Globo Esportes, the club's board of directors is evaluating alternatives to maintain its sporting activities during the recovery period.

Damage in Beira-Rio

Internacional is considering moving the games to a new location for around 45 days due to damage caused by the flooding of the Guaíba River in Beira-Rio. After the necessary disinfection of the stadium to resume normal operations, the team began training at the PUCRS Sports Complex this Tuesday (14/05). Despite the quality pitch, the facilities do not have the necessary resources to accommodate the team for an extended period.

Meanwhile, the Parque Gigante Training Center remains underwater and there are concerns about the possibility of irreparable structural damage. When Beira-Rio is ready, the team can choose to work there or use the facilities at the base complex, Morada dos Quero-Queros.

Balance between logistics and fans

It is essential that the workplace can accommodate more than 40 individuals, including players and technical staff, as well as having a gym that meets the club's needs. Furthermore, it is crucial that the lawns offer quality for the scheduled activities.

Inter is looking for a destination that minimizes travel to play at home and does not complicate the logistics of playing away, taking into account the equation that involves logistics and proximity to the fans. Furthermore, they want to be in a place with the presence of fans when acting as home team, which is also considered in the inspections carried out to meet Conmebol's requests, with Santa Catarina and São Paulo as possible options.

The players understand the situation and, despite the challenges of being away from their family, they are willing to sacrifice themselves during this period. Colorado recognizes the urgency of resolving this issue to move forward with the resumption, especially with the next match against Belgrano, in the South American Championship, scheduled for May 28th.
