How to use FaceTime?

To start using FaceTime, you need to turn it on and sign in with your Apple ID. The process is very simple, as you just need to go to “Settings”, tap on “FaceTime”, click on “Can Contact You on FaceTime” and choose how people can contact you.

Finally, you need to go to “Caller ID” and choose whether you want to leave your email or phone number to call other users. Once you’ve done that, you can explore the app’s features.

Connection

There are several ways to make a call. The first way is to click on “New FaceTime” and enter the recipient’s phone number or email address. Another option is to tap on the number or email address and click on the Audio or FaceTime button if you want to make a video call.

Another way is if you already have the person's number or email saved in your contacts. Just type in their name and click on the audio or video call button.

On your iPhone, if you're on a phone call, you can also start a video call using FaceTime. To do this, just tap the FaceTime icon in the phone app and switch to FaceTime.

Starting with iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, you can send people a link to join meetings with you. The link can be easily shared via text message or email.

You need to open FaceTime, click on “Create Link” and under “FaceTime Link”, tap on “Add Name” to personalize the meeting. To share, you must go to the “Share” menu and choose the people you want to send the link to.

People who don't have an Apple device can still join the meeting, as clicking the link takes them to the FaceTime interface in their browser. However, it's important to note that only Apple device users can create the link.

Screen sharing

In a meeting, there may be times when you need to share your screen to demonstrate something or show some important information. To do this, during the call, just click on “Share Content”, “Share My Screen” and “Share Content” again.

SharePlay

With SharePlay you can share streaming items. This means you can watch series, movies and even listen to music in real time with another user remotely.

During a video call, you need to click on “Open” next to “Join SharePlay”. This way, you will be watching or listening to something simultaneously with other people on the call. When it’s time to leave, just tap on the “Picture in Picture” button at the top of the screen.
