Marinho is announced by Fortaleza after early departure from Flamengo

This Tuesday (20), the striker Marine33 years old, was announced by the Strength as a new member of the group. The player had a contract with the Flamengo until the end of this year, however, he signed his termination with the club’s legal team in a friendly way with six months to go. The foreseen severance payments will be received by the athlete.

The red-black team will receive around US$ 400,000 (about R$ 2 million) from the club from Ceará for hiring the striker. Marinho now has a contract with Fortaleza that extends until the end of 2025. Still for Flamengo, the player did not get the performance he expected and was involved in controversies during the period in which he defended the red and black shirt.

The most recent controversy took place last May, when the striker was still on the team from Rio de Janeiro and ended up falling out and arguing with the coaching staff of Jorge Sampoli, current commander of Flamengo. Marinho’s attitude was considered an act of indiscipline and he was removed from both games and training held by the club.

The reason for all the confusion would be the athlete’s own claim that he was feeling pain and, therefore, could not travel with the rest of the club for a match in Chile, which took place on May 24. However, according to the coaching staff, after examinations carried out on the athlete, no bruises were found to confirm Marinho’s version.

“My conduct within the club speaks for itself. I’ve never done anything wrong. I’ve always been exemplary in my work and that’s how it is. I was wrong about that, but I know that’s what my life is like. football and I’m still chasing my dream”commented the player on the event that removed him from the club.

On the side of Fortaleza, his new home, Marinho was received with positive comments coming from Marcelo Paz, president of the club. The director stated that the player will be an important piece for the club from Ceará, as he has finishing characteristics and high-level dribbling. In addition, Paz admitted difficulties during the negotiation, but that the striker opted for Fortaleza, among the other options of interested clubs, to continue his career.

Marinho says goodbye to Flamengo after having participated in 60 games, scoring six goals and a total of nine assists.
