Stranger Things actor says the series should have “more deaths”

Actor Gaten Matarazzo who brings to life the beloved character Justin Henderson from the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things“, states that the series would be better if it had more character deaths. The information is from Variety.

In a conversation with some fans during the “MegaCon” event“ in Orlando, Matarazzo stated that, although it seems a little confusing, the series should kill more people because it would bring a greater sense of “risk” if at any point any of the characters could actually go from there to better. The creators of the series, brothers Ross and Matt Duffer disagree with the actor. In a 2022 interview for the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, the duo defended the existence of few deaths in the series and even compared it to another very famous series — “Game of Thrones”.

The Duffer brothers stated that they had already thought of all the options while planning the script and that “Hawkins” (the fictional city in which “Stranger Things” takes place) is not “Westeros” (the fictional continent in which “Game of Thrones” is portrayed ). The directors stated that by treating the series realistically it would no longer be “Stranger Things”.

Stranger Things

The series takes place in the 1980s and has several references to the time. Its events take place in the fictional town of “Hawkins”, Indiana, where a laboratory conducts paranormal experiments. When Will Byers goes missing, his group of friends and the local sheriff begin a search that leads them to government secrets and a girl with special powers named Eleven. Will's mother, Joyce, is determined to find him.

“Stranger Things” currently has four seasons. Its fifth and final season does not yet have a confirmed release date. The series is available on the Netflix streaming service.
