Mc Pocahontas returns with new era and EP A Braba é Ela no funk

The singer Pocahontas returned her name on social media this Monday morning (18) to Mc Pocahontas, the name under which she began her career. In 2019 she had officially changed her stage name to Pocah, after signing a contract with Warner Music and changing her musical style to a more pop sound. On YouTube and Spotify, until now, his name remains Pocah.
New era
The return of Mc Pocahontas on her social networks is part of the singer's new era. Last week, Pocahontas released her latest work, the EP “A Braba é Ela”, with five songs with a funk-oriented sound. The EP features partnerships such as Kevin O Chris, Piso 21 and Luck Muzik.
On Friday (15), Mc Pocahontas released the music video for the second track from her EP, the song “Assanhadinha”, in partnership with Mc Durrony.

In an interview with Portal da Band, Pocahontas responded to the criticism she has received for the lyrics of her songs. In “Assanhadinha”, Pocah sings about “spending time and throwing your hair” and was criticized by some internet users. The singer says that verses like this empower her as a woman:
“I can't sing about my sexual freedom? I can and I do. They will criticize, but their criticism doesn't change anything. I'm proud of my determination and my boldness. That's what takes me far”he stated.
Furthermore, Pocahontas said she was accused of cultural appropriation, after choosing to record “Assanhadinha” in the Campos Elísio community.
“I had the displeasure of hearing people saying: Another singer entering the favela and appropriating our culture. These people don't even know who I am, they don't know my story and they're talking nonsense, because I recorded it in my community, where I grew up”, he stated.
The EP “A Braba é Ela” is now available on all digital platforms.
