Nine dead in FedEx parcel delivery shootout

INDIANAPOLIS – Police say nine people were killed and several injured in a shooting in the American city of Indianapolis. The shooter took his own life, a spokeswoman told the media.

Late at night, a heavily armed man opened fire in front of and in one of the largest branches of parcel delivery company FedEx. He killed at least eight people. Nothing is known about his motives, they may be related to the company.

Injured people have been taken to several hospitals in the vicinity of the company, which is near the Indianapolis airport. A total of 4,500 people work at the site.

The US is often startled by such incidents. For Indianapolis it is the fourth time this year. Similar shootings took place at the end of January, mid-February and mid-March.
