Litaba Jonas purchased an OnAirTV set-top box last year and was shocked to learn that he uses the internet to play games and immediately canceled his subscription, but the service provider continued to debit his bank account for the next three months.
“They said they would collect the decoder but they didn't and then they said as long as the decoder is in my possession they will continue to charge me. I'm frustrated. I haven't even plugged this thing in and yet I'm being charged R98 every months for this”, said Jonas.
He said a telesales agent sold him the subscription in September last year and forgot to tell him that he would need internet to use it.
“He said I should forget about the DStv decoder because their product was cheaper and had the same number of channels as DStv,” Jonas.
He then contacted DStv to verify this information which turned out to be untrue. “I contacted OnAirTV and they admitted that their agent had misinformed me. I then asked them to cancel my subscription immediately.”
