Prices of PlayStation 5 consoles –

Sony has increased the suggested retail prices of its PlayStation 5 consoles by 50 euros. The PS5 version without disk drive now costs 450 euros and the version with disk drive costs 550 euros.

Sony has decided to do so because of the increased costs due to inflation. The price increase applies worldwide, except in the United States. Why the suggested retail price in the US remains the same, Sony does not say.

The PS5 came out in November 2020. There is still more demand for the console worldwide than there is supply. This is largely due to the persistent chip shortage.

In total, more than 21.7 million copies have been sold since the ps5’s release in November 2020, Sony reported in July.
