Smartphones have become a great ally for most people in recent times, whether to distract them with social networks, for communication, or even for work. However, they are only useful if the internet is working properly. So, what should you do if your Wi-Fi has stopped working on your cell phone?
We have put together some information that may help you with this problem. Tips include everything from analyzing your device's settings to a forced restart. See more information below.
What to do when Wi-Fi stops working on your cell phone
Analyze which devices were affected
The most basic step in this investigation routine is to analyze which devices were affected. If the Wi-Fi outage was widespread, then your computer, television, and any other device will not have an internet signal. In this case, the best thing to do is to unplug the internet devices (modem and router), wait a minute, and then plug them back in. If the signal still doesn't work, it's a good idea to contact your internet provider.
However, if everything else remains connected efficiently, except for your cell phone, then it is the problem. So, follow the tips in the following topics.
Check your phone settings
The first step is to always check if Wi-Fi is turned on. So, open the notifications screen and check if the wireless internet icon is lit. Then, check if the “Airplane Mode” button has been activated accidentally.
If all of this is ok, then it's time to open the Wi-Fi settings center and check if your phone is connected to the correct network. If the problem persists, it's worth disabling your internet connection, removing it (leaving the network) and reconnecting it later by entering the password again.

Disable Bluetooth
Some people tend to leave Bluetooth on every day, either out of habit or because they always use wireless headphones. However, you need to understand that it is possible for Bluetooth to interfere with Wi-Fi, especially if the network frequency is 2.4 GHz.
So, the first tip is to disable Bluetooth for now to see if the internet network starts working normally again. Then, it's a good idea to change the Wi-Fi frequency to 5 GHz (if your phone supports it), as this should minimize interference.
Try a hard reset
Many people don't know this, but restarting your phone occasionally is very good for the health of your device. This is because it allows the device to perform some updates and successfully close all programs that were open.
In general, if the reason your Wi-Fi won't connect is due to a bug in your device, it's possible that forcing it to restart will fix the problem. After restarting your phone, it's a good idea to do the same with your modem and router.
If even that doesn't work, we suggest two other possible solutions: check if there are updates available on your phone, and if so, activate them; and, finally, contact your internet provider to discuss the problem.
