After two years undergoing treatment for cancer, the legendary queen of national rock, Rita Lee, passed away on the night of last Monday (9/5), aged 75. (…) He went to see us twice… This presence was essential for me to feel more secure. I wanted to get as close to her as possible, respecting her work. I wanted her to feel represented.”said Mel.

The actress, who also appeared as Rita Lee in the miniseries “Elis – Living Is Better Than Dreaming”spoke to Mariana Godoy Interviewprogram of TV networkon the challenge of playing the rocker without it feeling forced: “I came across something very different: a real character who is alive, adored and revered. Viewers expect you to honor Rita. It was completely different from anything I’ve ever done in my life. I got to meet her, but I spoke little to her. She likes to stay at home quietly. The challenge is to understand what that person is so as not to imitate but interpret”.

In the cinema, it fell to Camila Morgado pay homage to the iconic redhead in the film “Hebe – The star of Brazil” which, later, was like a miniseries for the TV screens. It was in this production that the famous kiss between Rita and Hebe, played by Andrea Beltrãowas reproduced.
