First Lady Janja Lula da Silva has flown to Paris, France, and will represent President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at the opening of the Olympic Games on Friday (26). According to “Folha de São Paulo”, Janja traveled on a scheduled flight and will disembark with the honors of a head of state, having an exclusive exit. Janja's press office was contacted by Folha, but did not return contact.
The First Lady's schedule has not yet been released, but it is expected that Janja will take advantage of the trip to carry out actions aimed at the global alliance against hunger and poverty.
Janja Lula da Silva will be in the Tribune of Honor with French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron, as well as other heads of state. Jill Biden will also represent, like Janja, US President Joe Biden at the ceremony.
Olympics participation credentials
The Brazilian government missed the deadline to request credentials to represent the country at the Paris Olympics. The request was made in a hurry, about 15 days before the opening ceremony, so that First Lady Janja could represent President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the Brazilian delegation together with Sports Minister André Fufuca. According to the website “Poder 360”, the request for credentials was approved by the IOC (International Olympic Committee) without any major problems, but was considered an exception because she did not hold a high public office.
