By setting the primary search engine to the address bar of a browser, your search for information on the internet becomes faster and more convenient. If you use Microsoft Edge, and want to select Google as your primary search engine, see the following steps.
Learn how to set Google as the main search engine in Microsoft Edge
Browser for PC
Time needed: 2 minutes
- Open the browser
First, at the top of the Microsoft Edge home screen, click on the three dots. In the opened window, click on “Settings”.
- Proceed to adjustments
Then, on the left side of the next page, click on “Privacy, search and services”. Then, scroll down the page to the “Services” section and open “Search and address bar”.
- Complete the update
On the next screen, under “Search engine used in the address bar”, click the downward-pointing arrow and select the Google option.
Android and iOS App
Open Microsoft Edge:
- First, at the bottom of the browser home screen, tap the three horizontal lines;
- Then, in the open tab, open “Settings”;
- Next, in the next area, tap on “General”;
- On the next screen, tap “Select search engine”;
- Finally, tap on the “Google” option and, at the top of the application, finish with “OK”.

Edge is a browser developed by Microsoft that comes pre-installed on devices with Windows 10, Windows 11 systems and is available on Xbox One, Series X and Series S consoles. It can also be installed on devices with Android, iOS, macOS and Linux.
