Major Nelson decides to leave Xbox after 20 years

One of Xbox’s most famous names, Larry Hyrb, better known to the gaming community as Major Nelson, has decided to step down as director of programming for Xbox Live after 20 years. If you take into account his time as editor-in-chief of MSN Music, that’s 22 years at Microsoft.

He expressed his gratitude on Twitter to everyone who followed him on his journey: “After 20 incredible years, I have decided to step back and work on the next chapter of my career. As I take a moment to think about everything we’ve done together, I want to thank the millions of gamers around the world who have made me part of their lives.”

“Also, I thank the members of the Xbox team for trusting me to have a direct dialogue with our customers. The future is bright for Xbox, and as a gamer, I’m excited to see it evolve.”
