Embraer announced on Wednesday (19) its strategy to increase its market share against competitor Cessna's Citation Latitude. Currently, Embraer's Praetor 500 holds 33% of the market share in the midsize business jet segment, while the Latitude holds the remainder. The company also holds 27% of the global market share in the business jet market and plans to grow by 30%, with a forecast market of 7,000 jets by 2030.

Praetor 500 sales progress

On Wednesday (19), Embraer's Director of Marketing and Commercial Aviation Products, Alvadi Serpa Junior, stated that the company intends to increase its market share in relation to its competitor, the Citation Latitude, from Cessna, by increasing sales of the Praetor 500, which currently has a 33% market share in the mid-size executive jet segment, while the Latitude holds the remaining 67%. Embraer's advantage is driven by sales to NetJets, the world's largest aircraft sharing company.

Alvadi also revealed that NetJets is converting its options to purchase 250 Praetor 500 business jets into firm orders totaling $5 billion. These options, which were not included in the company’s reported business aviation backlog of about $4.3 billion, are driving Embraer’s market share growth.

The strategy proposes gaining more market share based on the advantages of the Praetor 500, such as its greater flight range. Despite aggressive competition from Cessna in the past, the executive believes that the difference between the two models has narrowed in recent years.

Considering a global market share of 27% in the executive jet market, Embraer is projected to grow by 30%. The company's plan for the coming years foresees a market of 7,000 jets by 2030, with 3,880 in its area of operation.

Currently, North America and the Caribbean are Embraer's main executive aviation markets, representing 57% of the units in operation (1,015 units). Latin America has a share of 17%.
