Mariah Carey delivers charisma and vocal power in a show full of glamor

After more than a decade without performing at Brazilian soils, Mariah Carey had a triumphant return. Sunset's headliner this Sunday (22), the American singer brought to Brazil the tour “The Celebration of Mimi”, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the album “The Emancipation of Mimi”.

With a successful passage by Allianz Parque, in Sao Paulo, last Friday (20), where he performed for 50,000 people, Mariah brought, this time, all the tour glamor started in Las Vegas to the city of Rock.

Vocal potential and elegance

At the beginning of the show, a big screen showed several moments of Mariah Carey's career. It comes wearing a green dress with stones that formed the Brazilian flag, singing the hit “Obsessed”, followed by “Honey” and “Heartbreaker”. In “Emotions”, with her characteristic “falsestest”, she drew shouts from the audience. In the introduction of “My All” the audience accompanied in choir. In the audience, it was possible to see emotional fans, holding the album “Rainbow”, which won a version in celebration of the 25 years of release this year.

What caught the eye during the change of clothes was the group of dancers, dancing at a capoeira rhythm, composed only of men and the incredible vocal capacity of vocal backing. All dressed in white, so that the highlight was only in her, the protagonist of the night.

In the second part of the show, Mariah returned to the stage wearing a pink dress with a feature coat in the same color, singing “Fantasy”. Lighting and images on the big screen give way to glamor, reminiscent of a Cassino Las Vegas hotel. In “Fly Like a Bird”, with a fire on the big screen, she shone flamingly and the high notes achieved by her voice resonated in the four corners of Rock City.

Over 1h10 the singer lived up to the title of one of the greatest pop divas of all time. With a remarkable charisma and voice, Mariah drew, at many times, cries and sighs of the audience each time he reached incredible high vocal notes. At a festival marked by the use of Playback, Mariah showed, tonight, that it is possible to make an excellent presentation anchored “only” in Gogó.

The closing was the “I Want To Know Whats Love Is”, the soundtrack of the global soap opera Vive a Vida (cover of the band Foreigner), accompanied by a visibly thrilled audience.

14 -year -old hiatus

Mariah takes up to Brazil after a 14 -year hiatus without performing in the country. The show at Rock in Rio 2024 marked her fifth coming and her debut at the festival. In 2010, the singer had a troubled ticket at the Pawn Party in Barretos, marked by delays, boos and empty audience. Already in 2016, Mariah would pass Brazilian lands with the tour “The Sweet Sweet Fantasy”, but canceled the shows for disagreements among the organizers.
