Despite Max Verstappen not having taken first place in the last ten races, his boss at the RBR team showed no concern. The undisputed victory at the São Paulo GP, on November 3, reaffirmed the Dutch driver's leadership and brought him even closer to winning his fourth world title in Formula 1.

One reason

Christian Horner, director of the British team, praised the driver's performance and has proclaimed that Verstappen has merit to be included among the great F1 racers. At the Interlagos circuit, Verstappen left 17th place, because he was punished with the loss of five positions. However, the rain at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace favored the Dutchman's performance, allowing him to progress until he crossed the finish line first. This victory took the RBR driver to 393 points, which means that in the next GP, in Las Vegas (USA), his favoritism for winning the fourth championship will be declared. Horner believes that Max Verstappen will thus guarantee his name among the greatest in the history of Formula 1.

“For sure, if he gets a fourth championship title, then you have to start considering him among the greats of the sport,” opined Christian Horner. Verstappen's last victory had been at the Spanish GP, in the 10th stage, but his performance on the wet asphalt of Interlagos brought the path to victory again, both for the driver and his team.

Among the biggest

Racing for RBR since 2016 under Horner's command, the 27-year-old Dutchman has 62 career victories, making him the third biggest winner of all time. His team manager highlighted that the pupil continues with the same enthusiasm as he did at the beginning, despite the success he has already achieved and, with his aggressive style, he could place himself between two four-time world champions: Alain Prost and Sebastian Vettel. “And he still has that hunger and passion, and it’s great to see,” finished.

The F1 season continues in the USA, between November 21st and 24th, with the Las Vegas GP.
