Away for more than a month, Gabigol returns to Flamengo

Gabigol, Flamengo's starting striker, returned to Flamengo at Ninho do Urubu, this Tuesday (30), more than an hour before his planned arrival, after the suspensive effect of his punishment was put into effect earlier in the day .

Gabigol arrived at Flamengo's headquarters at 1:54 pm, more than an hour before the agreement between the team and him. His arrival was planned for 3 pm.

In addition to appearing blonde, the red-black striker caused a real commotion among his teammates, members of the technical committee and employees of the Rio team's training CT.

Coach Tite, Bruno Spindel, executive director of the club, Luiz Carlos, technical manager and Diogo Lemos, member of the football council, were some high-ranking members who were present during the first greetings to Gabigol.

The heated reception is due to the punishment the player received, being prevented from playing, training or even attending the Rio vulture's training center. Gabigol was even prevented from going to the stadiums to watch Flamengo's games.

The striker who was surprised after Carioca's victory, with the competition medal, received at his home, will prepare for Flamengo's next game in the third phase of the Copa do Brasil, against Amazonas, on Wednesday, 1st of May.

Remember the case

Gabigol, Flamengo striker, was sentenced by the TJD-AD (Anti-Doping Court of Sports Justice), on March 25, to 2 years of suspension for being found guilty, by a score of 5 to 4 votes in favor, for attempting to defraud an anti-doping test.

The complaint, however, took place in December 2023, relating to an attempted fraud that took place in April of the same year. Therefore, the 2-year sentence began to be applied retroactively. In this way, Gabigol will be off the field until April 2025.

The punishment did not allow the attacker to play for the Rio team, train for them or even attend their facilities. The suspension effect of the punishment occurred just over five months after the complaint was made.
