Check out the trends and tricks used during the parades that can be easily replicated in festive events in our everyday lives.
You can never have too much shine
Paris Haute Couture Week was marked by a lot of shine. Brands like Dior highlighted the sparkling trend at the event. Neutral colors dominated the catwalk led by Christian Dior, with a versatile, but by no means basic, palette made up of silver, black, white and cream. These colors came to life with brilliant applications of materials such as stones, sequins and lamé fabrics, which added a touch of texture to the looks.

Monochrome
This season, pieces from the Jean Paul Gaultier brand, designed by current creative director Nicolas Di Felice, proved that monochromatic is one of the perfect versatile classics for winter. The styling trick was extended to some productions, going from clothes to tights and shoes.

Modern Preppy
Proving his theory that “Couture is the Olympic Games of fashion,” Thom Browne made several references to the sport and ended the show with three models wearing embroidered and shiny blazers in gold, silver and bronze, representing the competition medals.

Complementing these pieces were classic shirts in light tones, matching ties and a dog-shaped bag, reflecting the preppy/college trend in a deconstructed version.
Income and applications
Another trend that stood out in Thom Browne's collection was the predominance of light tones, especially in pieces with lace worked in warrior and floral designs. The layering of fabrics, textured embroidery and asymmetrical pieces broke the rigidity of the white and off-white colors, bringing a futuristic touch to the looks.

Belt beyond the accessory
The belt trend promises to return this season as more than just an accessory and was a recurring theme in yet another Fashion Week show. Chanel used the accessory in an innovative way, contouring part of the model's body beyond the waist over a long plaid dress.

Balenciaga completely reinvented the function of the accessory, creating a dress entirely made of denim belts buckled around the model's body.
