“Thank you,” began by saying a very smiling and moved Emmanuel Macron. “On this day of April 24, 2022, a majority of you have chosen to trust me for the next 5 years.
This vote obliges me” he continued, addressing those who voted for him, such as those who abstained – about 17 million people – and those who chose Marine Le Pen. “Their anger must be answered. It is my responsibility and that of those around me,” added the re-elected President of the Republic, ready for “five years of mieux“.
His wife since 2007 then joined him on the stage, while a singer sang La Marseillaise that the presidential couple sang alongside him.
Questioned by France 2, Brigitte Macron expressed her immense emotion: “You never get used to it. It is such a great honour, I hope to be worthy of it. We all want things to change.
This is what I wish with all my heart. I’m so happy for him. I lived these five years of work. I have immense confidence in him.“
Shortly before, the first Lady’s adviser, Tristan Bromet published a photo of the Elysée Palace just as Brigitte Macron learned of her husband’s victory. The latter embraced the one who is literally upset, hands on his face.
A moment that sums up the joy but also the relief, facing the opponent of the extreme right who was in front of Emmanuel Macron, the candidate of the National Rally Marine Le Pen. She finished with 41.2% of the vote (estimates of 20h).
