Since iOS 16, the iPhone has added a messaging function that allows you to recover deleted conversations on your smartphone directly. In the Messages app, you can restore deleted messages and entire conversations on your iPhone. You can restore deleted messages for up to 30 days.

Time required: 5 minutes
- Open the Messages app on your iPhone.
- In the app's conversation list, do the following:
– Tap Edit in the top left corner and tap Show Deleted.
– Tap Filters in the top left corner, then tap Deleted.

How to recover deleted messages in Messages on iPad
You can recover deleted messages and entire conversations from iPad for up to 30 days.
- Open the Messages app on your iPad.
- In the Messages conversation list, do the following:
- Tap Edit in the top left corner and tap Show Deleted. Tap in the top left corner and tap Deleted.
If you're in a conversation, tap to return to the conversation list.

Important:
- If you use Messages in iCloud, iPhone Recovery recovers it on all your devices where Messages in iCloud is turned on.
- Deleting and recovering messages only changes Messages conversations where you're signed in to the same Apple Account, not your recipients' conversations.
- After you recover a locked conversation where not all participants have turned on iMessage, received messages will no longer be automatically deleted.
- All messages deleted from a conversation with Undo Send are permanently deleted. Audio messages that have expired before being saved cannot be retrieved.
