Kate Middleton takes inspiration from a 60s look in her comeback

Last Saturday (15), in London, Kate Middleton made her first appearance after revealing to the world her diagnosis of abdominal cancer. Alongside his children George. Charlotte and Louis, Princess of Wales was with her husband, Prince William, during King Charles III's birthday in Trooping the Color, traditional British court event.

Look originating from the 60s

In a classic ceremony, Kate adopted one of the most classic combinations: black and white. With a dress inspired by the model worn by actress Audrey Hepburn in the film My Fair Lady (1967), the princess even outshone her birthday boy, King Charles III.

With a style known as the “Doolittle Look”, the look makes a clear reference to the outfit worn by the character Eliza Doolittle. In the film, Eliza is a flower girl who undergoes a transformation until she becomes a worthy lady of high society. After the radical change, she starts to wear sophisticated clothes in a more neutral color palette (black, white and pastel tones), with accessories such as the hat and bow becoming a trademark.

Event marked the return to lenses

The main highlight of Trooping the Color it was in fact the presence of the princess alongside the royal family during the ceremony. This was the princess's first public appearance after the announcement of abdominal cancer in early March.

Despite the appearance, the princess remains under cancer care: “My treatment is ongoing and will last a few more months. On days when I feel well enough, it's a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, and begin to do a little work from home.”said the princess.

According to the BBC, Kate began preventive chemotherapy treatment at the end of February, even before the announcement to the public.
