Manchester United has six players confirmed to leave

The overhaul of Manchester United's squad for next season has already begun. The list of six names of athletes who will not have their contracts renewed and will leave the club was announced this Wednesday (05). The team is captained by French defender Raphael Varane and striker Anthony Martial.

On the other hand, the club announced that it had offered contract renewals to two veteran athletes on the squad, defender Jonny Evans and reserve goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

In addition to Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane, Manchester United announced four more names: goalkeeper Kie Plumley, full-backs Brandon Williams and Marcus Lawrence, and striker Charlie McNeill join the French on the list.

The 28-year-old striker has been at Manchester United since the 2015/2016 season. He was loaned out and stayed for a year at Sevilla in Spain, in the 2021/2022 season.

In total, for Manchester United, he made 317 appearances, 90 goals and 43 assists. He never established himself as an absolute starter for the team in these almost nine years at the club.

Varane Numbers

The 31-year-old French defender arrived in the 2021/2022 season as a major signing for the team, coming from the powerful Real Madrid in Spain. His arrival generated a lot of expectations, as he came with a starting defender for the French national team and the Spanish club.

He dealt with many injuries during his time, which hindered a longer sequence of games for Manchester United. There were only 95 games, with two goals scored and only one assist.

Possible solutions

Brazilian midfielder Casimiro is also expected to leave Manchester United, who are waiting for an advantageous proposal to sell him. There are only surveys from clubs in Saudi Arabia, but nothing concrete yet, just speculation.

Despite winning the FA Cup title against their biggest rivals, Manchester City, coach Erik Ten Hag must be fired.
