Slovenia and Denmark are tied in the European Championship

In the second game of the day of the European Championship, Slovenia and Denmark were tied 1-1, this Sunday (16), in Stuttgart. The match marked the debut of Euro group C, which in addition to the two teams, includes England and Serbia.

One name in particular marked the match in a symbolic way, Christian Eriksen. The Dane was responsible for opening the scoring, but the goal had a special flavor for the player. In the last edition of Euro, in 2021, Eriksen suffered a sudden illness on the field and needed to receive cardiac massage.

1st half

The first great scoring opportunity came from Slovenia in the 15th minute, with a shot from outside the area, Sesko scared Schmeichel's goal. Denmark opened the scoring soon after, after a throw-in, Wind passed it to Eriksen, who killed it on the chest and scored.

The game remained balanced with chances for both sides, Sporar almost equalized for Slovenia at 25, but shot wide. Denmark threatened from set pieces, but the first half ended 1-0.

2nd half

Denmark came back better for the second stage, with more possession of the ball, they had opportunities to increase the score, but goalkeeper Oblak didn't allow it. Slovenia began to believe that a draw was possible and, in dangerous attacks, came close to the Danish goal, Cerin almost equalized in the 21st minute after finishing wide. At 31, Sesko from outside the area hit a beautiful shot against the post. Following the play, after the corner taken at the first post, the ball was left for left-back Janza to shoot first and count on the deflection on Hjulmand to tie the match.

Denmark was not very scared in the final stretch of the game, with timid attacks, Oblak made some easy saves with long-range shots, Slovenia tried counterattacks, but the draw persisted until the end.

The teams now have one point each in Group C, in the next round Slovenia faces Serbia, while Denmark faces England.
