Undisputed Success in the World of Music

“Birds of Prey (Harley Quinn and her Fantabulous Emancipation)”, by DC, had its soundtrack released on the main streaming platforms in February 2020, along with the release of the film, and surpassed the huge milestone of one billion song streams. The album, which has 15 tracks, featured several artists such as Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Normani, Lauren Jauregui, Halsey and more. See the playlist of hits below:

An interesting feature of the songs present in the film is that it was a compilation of songs entirely made by women, forming, in a way, a musical gang. Furthermore, the music producer, Kevin Weaver, stated that the meeting of these artists served to “express the voice of young, important and powerful women” and that some of the partnerships served to increase the feeling of unity present in the film.

“Birds of Prey” tells the story through the distorted vision of Harley Quinn who, after breaking up with the Joker, seeks her emancipation, and, on this journey, ends up getting involved in an adventure to protect a young woman named Cass (Ella Jay Basco) who is being sought by one of Gotham's most narcissistic villains, Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) as well as his right-hand man, Zsasz (Chris Messina). The plot addresses issues about union, friendship, overcoming an abusive relationship (lived by Harley Quinn with the Joker) and discoveries in a funny and adventurous way.

Directed by Cathy Yan, and scripted by Christina Hodson, the film featured big names such as Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Huntress), Ewan McGregor (Black Mask), Jurnee Smollett (Black Canary) and was a success in specialized reviews at the time of release.
