Djonga and Sarah Guedes win the Hip-Hop of the Year category with “Penumbra”

Today (7), the 30th edition of the Multishow Brazilian Music Awards, one of the most important awards in the country's music market, is taking place. Directly from the Jeunesse Arena, in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, the ceremony will be broadcast, for the first time, live on TV Globo, in addition to Globoplay, Multishow and Rádio Globo. Hosted by Ludmilla, Tatá Werneck and Tadeu Schmidt, the 2023 Awards have 23 categories in total, covering the entire diversity of national music.

Hip-Hop of the Year

In the Hip Hop of the Year category, Djonga and Sarah Guedes stood out. The artist was chosen by the Multishow Academy among other competitors such as Vulgo FK, Matuê, Veigh and WIU. The award was received by the partner of the track “Penumbra”, Sarah Guedes. She was very grateful for the award, spoke about the difficulty of standing out with hip-hop in the country and apologized for Djonga's absence. The rapper is currently in Europe. The track “Penumbra”, which features Sarah and Rapaz do Dread, is part of Djonga's album “O dono do lugar”, released in 2022.

“Penumbra”

Djonga and Sarah met in 2022 to record some tracks for the album “O dono do lugar”. The song has a light beat and talks about a love relationship that walks between extremes of love and hate. The video and song performed excellently. The rapper was on Forbes magazine's “Under 30” list that same year.
