Cazares terminates his contract with Santos FC

Midfielder Juan Cazares, 32, has agreed to terminate his contract with the board of directors of the Santos club, leaving him free to plan his future on the market. The player did not train this week at CT Rei Pelé and will no longer be part of the squad.

Outside the project

Peixe intends to make a small change in the group in the middle of the 2024 season and, therefore, directed the departure of the player who was no longer part of coach Fábio Carille's plans. From now on, the club will start moving behind the scenes in search of reinforcements to continue in the series B competition.

Since Cazares was not part of Peixe's plans for the rest of the season, the board of directors decided to terminate his contract and immediately agreed on the terms of termination of the agreement with his career manager. This occurred during a meeting last Tuesday (25), held in São José do Rio Preto, where the group gathered for the match against Mirassol. According to the agreement, the player will receive a lower termination amount than he would otherwise be entitled to. Since the transfer window is about to open, the Ecuadorian can continue playing in Brazilian football.

It would be a bet

The player arrived at Baixada Santista at the beginning of the year with a lower salary than his teammates because he would need to prove himself by playing effectively (he was hired for a salary of around R$50,000 per month). Although the Ecuadorian footballer had a contract with the club until the end of this year, the gamble did not pay off. The midfielder played 14 matches and scored only one goal in the Paulistão.

The last time he was mentioned by Carille was in the 3-1 defeat to Grêmio Novorizontino, on June 7th. Against Operário and Goiás, for the Brazilian Championship, he was on the bench.
