Fabrício Bruno is called up to the national team in place of Éder Militão

Flamengo defender Fabrício Bruno has been called up to the Brazilian national team again by coach Dorival Júnior. The defender was called up to replace Éder Militão, who was ruled out due to a muscle injury. Fabrício Bruno will be available for the match next Tuesday against Paraguay in a match valid for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Éder Militão's injury occurred before the match against Ecuador (Brazil won 1-0). The defender had trained as a starter in the Brazilian defense, but a muscle problem in his right thigh kept him out of the matches on that FIFA date. He is expected to return to the field in two weeks. On Wednesday, the athlete had complained of pain in the region and after tests carried out the following day, the injury was confirmed.

Players cut due to injury

Militão's exclusion from the squad was the fourth such situation for Dorival's team during the team's preparation. Before the defender, the coach was forced to remove right-back Yan Couto (replaced by Willian) and forwards Savinho (replaced by Lucas Moura) and Pedro (replaced by João Pedro), the latter being the most serious case.

With the confirmation of the Real Madrid defender's departure, Fabrício Bruno returns to the Brazilian national team after two friendlies played in March, against England and Spain.

Successful partnership at Flamengo

Dorival Júnior and Fabrício Bruno have worked together for a long time, the two are old acquaintances from their Flamengo days. The duo won a Libertadores and a Copa do Brasil with the Rio de Janeiro club in 2022.

Brazil and Paraguay will face each other next Tuesday (10), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time). Brazil is in fourth place in the Qualifying table with 10 points, while Paraguay has 6 points, in seventh place.
