Rio 2016 Olympic champion Tori Bowie dies aged 32
Tori Bowie, aged 32, passed away on Wednesday morning (3). The cause of the athlete’s death has not yet been released by the press. The team that took care of Bowie’s career announced the death of the athlete, who made history in athletics and Olympic sports. The press office reported and regretted the loss. The team also asked for privacy at this sensitive time:
“We are devastated to share the sad news that Tori Bowie has passed away. We lost a client, dear friend, daughter and sister. Tori was a champion… A beacon of light that shone so bright! We are truly heartbroken and our prayers are with her family, friends and everyone who loved her. As the story continues to develop, we ask that you respect our privacy,” said Icon Management, the late Olympic athlete’s publicist.

At the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic competition, Tori Bowie won three Olympic medals. She won a silver medal in the 100 meters and a bronze medal in the 200 meters. In the team modality, the sprinter won gold, running on the team with Allyson Felix, English Gardner and Tianna Bartoletta.
In the Rio competitions, when the athlete won bronze in the 200 meters, she shared the podium with Jamaican Elaine Thompson-Herah and Dafne Schippers, Dutch athlete, gold and silver medalists, respectively. In the 100 meters silver medal, the athlete also shared the Olympic stage with Thompson-Hera and Shelly-Ann, athletes from Jamaica.
Tori Bowie also won the world championships in 2017, in the city of Beijing, in the 100 meters dash and in the 4 x 100 relay. The athlete’s last competition took place in 2019, finishing in fourth place. For the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, the sprinter did not participate in the valid tournaments for the vacancy that guaranteed places in Japan.
