Discover the Met Gala beauty trends that can be used in everyday life

The Met Gala 2024 ball took place last Monday (06), inspired by the short story “The Garden of Time”, by British author JG Ballard. The event that occurred in Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York (USA), was attended by several artists. Several celebrities attended the ball wearing pieces made up of flowers, petals, twigs and leaves. In addition to the clothes, the makeup used by the artists was a fundamental accessory for the composition of the proposed theme.

Some of the techniques used at the ball do not require a setting like the Met Gala to be applied. This makes it possible to take advantage of trends in everyday compositions. Check it out below.

Contoured lips

Singer Lana Del Rey caught attention with her twig dress and her face covered by a veil. To create the look, she chose lipstick with a contrasting shade to the branches on her dress, in addition to applying the contouring technique to her lips.

Singer Tyla, who caught attention with her sandy dress, also applied the same contouring technique to her mouth and didn't give up on her eyebrow line.

In everyday life, it is possible to create a smoky contour, slightly blurred outside the natural contour of the mouth, so as not to make the marking so heavy. This technique gives the impression of larger lips.

It is also possible to mix the shades and use a more striking tone than the natural color of the mouth during contouring. Or, apply the same color to the lipstick and contour, for a more detailed finish.

Makeup in metallic tones

Due to the story “The Garden of Time”, which was the theme of the party, involving crystal flowers, some celebrities opted for metallic tones in their makeup. Model Anok Yai invested in a metallic tone in the corners of her eyes and temples, which contrasted with her Swarovski crystal dress.

The shine of metallic tones is usually combined with more opaque tones for a greater contrast of textures and depth in makeup. The tone is used not only in shadows, but also in eyeliners and even lipsticks.

Blush Draping

Actress Zendaya used a high blush, with a warmer tone marked on the temples, instead of being deposited on the apples of the face.

Also known as Blush Draping, the technique was also used by poet and Estée Lauder global ambassador, Amanda Gorman.

This trend has already become popular on Tik Tok and remains popular with the artists who attended the event. High blush generally brings greater softness to the face, as it has a light contour. However, more elaborate techniques can also be applied.

Lengthened eyelashes, velvety skin and pointed nails are other beauty techniques used at the Met Gala and which, in the same way, can be applied in everyday life.
