The Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, announced this Wednesday (8), that he did not authorize the concert by singer Bruno Mars scheduled for October 4th in the city. The note was published on his Twitter profile.
According to Paes, the reason for the show not happening is that the scheduled date would be two days before the elections, on October 6th. In the note, the mayor states that the electoral process requires greater mobility of civil servants, which includes the Municipal Guard and police officers.
City hall decision ignored
Furthermore, the show's production team was informed that Rio's city hall would not authorize the event in the city because it was large. According to Paes, the decision was communicated on the same day that the dates were announced for Rio de Janeiro.“If the warnings given were not enough, let this publication serve to avoid imagining that an irreversible situation will be created.”ends the post.

However, despite having been warned, the team announced another extra date for the show, on October 5th, the day before the elections. Tickets for the previous day were sold out in less than 1 hour.
According to the note, the mayor stated that the city hall's decision not to authorize the show during election week will remain the same and there will be no change. However, Eduardo Paes declared that, outside of this period, the capital of Rio will be honored to welcome singer Bruno Mars.
Ticket purchasing turmoil
At the Nilton Santos Stadium, known as Engenhão, this Wednesday (8), queues formed to secure tickets for the Bruno Mars show, scheduled for the 4th. Only three cities were announced for the singer's show in Brazil: Brasília, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The same crowd took place in São Paulo, at Shopping Ibirapuera, and at the Mané Garrincha Stadium, in the Federal District.
