The production also made more than 500,000 people go to movie theaters in Brazil to watch the story of the scientist who created the atomic bomb in the Second World War.

The president of Abraplex, Marco Barros, said in a statement that the high demand to watch audiovisual works this past weekend is essential. “The more quality films we have, the faster we will match or even surpass pre-pandemic box office levels. Film after film, the result obtained is above expectations”, he stated.

The drama and suspense film “Oppenheimer” tells the story of the creation of the atomic bomb by physicist J.Robert Oppenheimer, during the Second World War, together with a team of scientists.

The feature film has scenes in color, for moments that involve the subjectivity of the plot's protagonist, and in black and white, when they are objective events. The work was recorded with IMAX cameras, becoming the first black and white film produced with the equipment. “For the first time, we were able to film IMAX in black and white. The results are extraordinary. When the first tests arrived, we quickly fell in love with this format”, stated Christopher Nolan.

“Oppenheimer” premiered on July 20th in theaters and features the actors Cillian Murphy , Robert Downey, Emily Blunt, Florence Pughand others.
