Katy Perry's song records significant increase in the number of plays

The song “Harleys In Hawaii“, by Katy Perry, featured on her latest album, “Smile”released in August 2020, is turning into a belated hit after three years of its release. According to Billboard, last September alone, the number of streams of the track almost doubled, reaching 1.1 million plays across music platforms, marking a significant increase of 93% compared to the previous week.

The unexpected success of the song can be explained by the fact that, according to The Music Journal Brazil, the song went viral on TikTok, earning a global trendswith countless memes and edits on the popular Chinese social network of the moment the singer sings “You And I” after 2 minutes and 20 seconds of the song. This isn't the first time this has happened, since 2021 the song has experienced a significant increase in the number of plays and views due to its success on TikTok. On social media, the public has supported the song, which went from being practically unnoticed when it was released, like the rest of the album, to a timeless success. In the words of the fans themselves, “time has cleared Katy Perry”as well as her album “Smile”.

In 2019, the song “Harleys in Hawaii” was created in collaboration between Katy Perry, Charlie Puth, Jacob Kasher Hindlin and Johan Carlsson. It was included on the 2020 album “Smile” and became the album's most successful track, with over 430 million streams on Spotify and 133 million views on YouTube.
