Anitta is the first solo Brazilian artist to perform at the VMAs

This Friday (05), singer Anitta was confirmed as one of the attractions on the main stage of the Video Music Awardsa major MTV USA event, is the biggest music video awards show in the world.

The 2022 Trophy Ceremony will take place on August 28th in New Jersey, USA. Other artists were also confirmed, including J Balvin, Marshmello and Khalid.

Anitta will perform at the event and was also nominated in the Best Latin Artist category for her global hit Envolver. In 2021, she participated in the ceremony during a break from the Video Music Awards and sang the song Girl From Rio.

According to the event organizers, the Rio native should be highlighted on the main stage of the awards ceremony. More shows will be announced soon.

Last week, she had already celebrated the feat of becoming the first Brazilian artist nominated in the individual category. It competes with the video for the hit “Envolver” for the Best Latin Music Video trophy.

Before her, only Any Gabrielly had competed for the award for Brazil, but as a member of the multinational group Now United in the Best Band of 2020 category.

1st place worldwide on Spotify

Anitta achieved a feat in Brazilian music, she was the first artist from the country to reach first place on Spotify's Global 200 Hits with “Envolver”. After becoming the first Brazilian woman to enter the Spotify Global TOP 5, the Rio native continues to make history and break records. In addition to the song going viral on TikTok with choreography done by the artist herself.

The Spanish-language hit “Envolver” was released on November 11, 2021, and the single brought tantalizing lyrics to the urban sound of reggae. On March 17, Anitta released “Envolver Remix” with North American reggae singer Justin Quiles. The song became a challenge on TikTok, earning a new new video with the singer wearing a suit from the French brand Balmain.
