Brazil debuts in the Copa América against Costa Rica

This Saturday, the Brazilian team debuts in the Copa América facing Costa Rica. The game will be at 10pm (Brasília time) at SoFi Stadium, in Los Angeles, considered the most expensive stadium in the world. The live broadcast will be carried out by Globo, Sportv and Ge, covering the entire national territory. Expectations are high for this first official challenge under the command of Dorival Júnior.

Preparations and History

The Brazilian team has been in the United States since May 30th, where it began its preparations in Orlando before traveling to Los Angeles. In recent friendlies, Brazil presented good performances against England and Spain, in addition to a victory over Mexico and a draw with the United States. This will be the 12th clash between Brazil and Costa Rica, with the Brazilian team having won 10 times and lost only once. The last meeting was in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup, where Brazil won 2-0, with goals from Philippe Coutinho and Neymar.

SoFi Stadium, the venue for the premiere, is one of the most modern and expensive arenas in the world, costing 5.5 billion dollars. With a capacity for 70,240 fans, it can be expanded to accommodate up to 100,000 spectators at major events. In addition to the Copa América, the stadium has already hosted the Super Bowl and will host World Cup and Olympic matches.

Lineups and Broadcast

Dorival Júnior will have a full squad for the match against Costa Rica. He made some changes compared to previous friendlies, with Militão and Arana coming in as starters. Brazil's probable lineup includes Alisson, Danilo, Éder Militão, Marquinhos, Guilherme Arana, João Gomes, Bruno Guimarães, Lucas Paquetá, Raphinha, Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior. Endrick, a highlight of the friendlies, will start on the bench.

On the Costa Rican side, coach Gustavo Alfaro, who led the Ecuadorian team in the last World Cup, tries to surprise once again. The team is missing veterans Keylor Navas and Daniel Ruiz, but still has Joel Campbell, although he is doubtful due to recent discomfort. Costa Rica's likely lineup includes Sequeira, Quiróz, Cascante, Vargas, Calvo, Mora, Galo, Aguilera, Zamora, Campbell (or Ugalde) and Contreras.
