Rumors that the atmosphere within the team would not be good, he contradicts.

“All my teammates and staff members know me well, some even from the age of eleven. They really do not let themselves be influenced by what is said and written in the media,” said the 37-year-old Ronaldo monday at the press conference.

The media mainly asked questions about the interview in which Ronaldo lashed out at the people at Manchester United. He took, among others, his current coach Erik ten Hag and former coach Ralf Rangnick and former teammates Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville the measure.

“I speak out when I want to,” Ronaldo responded to a question of the timing of the interview. The attacker seems to be preparing for a winter departure at United. “It’s easy for you to look at the timing. Sometimes you write truths, sometimes you write lies.”

Ronaldo hopes that the emphasis in Qatar will be on football but emphasizes that he is not awake from the many reports in the media. “Don’t ask my teammates about me anymore, but about the World Cup. You don’t touch me personally with it.”

Ronaldo sees Portugal as a contender

Ronaldo sees Portugal as one of the contenders for the final victory. “I believe we can win the World Cup, but we will have to show it on the pitch,” said Ronaldo, who is likely to play his last global final in Qatar.

“I personally no longer have to prove myself after everything I have achieved and won,” the star continued. “Nevertheless, of course I want to show myself. Winning the World Cup is a dream, but even if we don’t win here, I will be proud.”

Ronaldo starts the World Cup with Portugal on Thursday with a match against Ghana. After that, the 2016 European champion will take on Uruguay and South Korea in the group stage. It will be Ronaldo’s fifth participation in a World Cup.
