Dercy Gonçalves receives tribute in Times Square
Dolores Gonçalves Costa, artistically known as Dercy Gonçalves, left us on July 19, 2008 due to a complication resulting from pneumonia. Exactly on the day her death completes 15 years, a beautiful and fair tribute was made in her memory in Time Square where photos that marked her biography were released. The comedian appears in images alongside other great personalities who have marked Dercy’s career, as well as Brazilian humor and communication, including Silvio Santos.
It is important to note that Dercy’s wish was for his body to be buried standing up. According to her, this act meant that after death she could continue walking.
Therefore, the day after her death, the coffin was placed upright in the tomb in Santa Maria Madalena, as requested by the comedian. In other words, the homage in Time Square, which every half hour displays images of this icon, is a symbol that reinforces that Dercy is still alive, breaking new ground.
