When did the longest throwing in basketball began to emerge?

Early extremely long throwing records in basketball emerged when television and departure recording began to popularize. Which players starred in the longest throwing of basketball?

Several athletes marked their names in history with unbelievable throws, but some stand out for the precision, distance and context of the bid. Among them we can mention:

  • Baron Davis He thrown the defense line in an NBA game that traveled almost the entire block.
  • LeBron James – Known for your long distance bids at decisive moments.
  • Devonte 'Graham – He starred in one of the longest and most exciting throws in the recent history of the league, hitting the defensive zone to win the game.
  • Tyreke Evans – It was also marked by unlikely throws at the end of time.

Many of these players are not experts in three -point throws, which makes the feat even more spectacular. The bids are captured by cameras, generate intense fans reactions, and often change the result of the match.

What makes a long distance throw so difficult?

A very long throw requires more than strength. It takes mastery of the technique, precise reading of the situation and, of course, a little luck. The player needs to adjust the angle, calculate the trajectory and apply the right amount of strength to fractions of a second. In addition, most of these throws occurs under pressure, with time running out or with marking on top. This requires emotional control, reflection and quick decision making. The probability of hit is very low, which makes each basket a remarkable feat.

What is the cultural impact of the longest throwing on basketball?

Impressive throws like these earn their own life off the court. They become viral, come into compilations of better moments and are reproduced to exhaustion by fans. Many have seen memes, gifs and videos on social networks, reinforcing the image of players and feeding basketball culture as a show. In addition, these bids inspire young players and fans around the world, who try to reproduce the throws in neighborhood courts or training. They also help keep alive the idea that the unexpected is always possible in sport, something that delights even those who do not regularly follow the sport.

How do these bids influence the current game style?

Although rare, long -distance throws tactically influence the game. The rise of modern basketball, focusing on three -point kicks and mobility, has made players more accurately trained at longer distances. Today, it is common to see athletes trying to baskets right after crossing the middle of the court. In addition, technicians started to consider specific strategies to avoid this type of throw in the final seconds. High marking, constant pressure and time requests have become ways to prevent a “miraculous” bid from defining the outcome of the match. This shows how a unique move can change mentalities within the sport.

In recreational contexts, there are records of even longer throws, such as Thunder Lawfrom the Harlem Globetrotters group, which hit a stands more than 30 meters from the basket. Even without competitive value, these achievements demonstrate the technical potential of players and basketball artists, as well as keeping the sport in evidence with viral challenges and videos.

A move that transcends the sport and becomes legend

The longest throws in history in basketball show how unlikely can be magical. These moments escape the routine of the game and capture the essence of what the basketball does so special: the ability to surprise. Even in the midst of complex tactics and highly trained athletes, there is still room for luck, boldness and genius. Each time a ball goes through the court and falls into the basket in the last second, it is not just a point on the score – it is an instant of eternity that is recorded in the memory of those who love the sport. These bids remind us that in basketball the impossible can happen at any time.

NBA announces new format for All-Star Game
– Latest basket ball news, just in basketball highlights and lots more.

This Wednesday, the 12th, the NBA officially announced the new format of All-Star Game for 2026. Based in Los Angeles, at the Intuit Dome, the event will consist of a tournament with three teams: two with North American players and one with only foreigners.

This will be the fourth different format for the NBA All-Star Game in the last four years. The selection of the 24 players (12 from each conference) follows the same way. The ten starters will be chosen by fans (50% of the votes), media (25%) and the athletes themselves (25%). The 14 reserves are selected by the coaches.

Fans represent 50% of the votes, while the media and the athletes themselves have 25% each. The rest of the world team will be made up of eight foreigners, including Americans with roots abroad, and the 16 Americans will be divided into the country’s two teams.

If the voting results do not meet the correct number of players for the three teams, Adam Silver, league commissioner, will choose the athletes to fill the teams.

On February 15, 2026, the three teams will face each other in the first phase and the two best teams will make the decision. Matches will last 12 minutes. If each team ends with a defeat and a victory, the tiebreaker will be the difference in points.

New NBA All-Star Game format

In an attempt to increase public interest in the event, after the failure of the last edition (the second least attended in history), the NBA is betting on rivalry between North Americans and foreigners. Today, 25% of players in the league were born outside the United States.

Furthermore, the last seven MVPs have been foreigners: Giannis Antetokounmpo (2019 and 2020), Nikola Jokic (2021, 2022 and 2024), Joel Embiid (2023) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (2025).
