Registered voters from the federal electoral district IGBO-ETITI/UZ-UWANI, the state of Enugugo began the process to recall the legislator representing them in the House of Representatives, Hon. Martins Oke.
The Daily Post reports that this was contained in a petition letter dated March 27, 2025 and addressed to the President, Independent National Electoral Commission, Inec.
The petitioners represented by Mr. Ugwuagbo Emmanuel Chizoba, alongside Mr. Clinton Ogbonna, Sabinus Amah and Stephen Okenwa, cited the legislator's non -performance as one of the reasons for change.
“This is your third term in the Chamber of Federal Deputies. There is no bill or popular motion in your name.
“There are no visible electoral circle projects on his behalf, and we do not see it or hear him during the Nass sessions. He contributes nothing to the local, state or national speech. He is not representing us,” they said.
The petitioners also claimed that Martins Oke was not properly elected by the constituents, stating that the legislator was imposed on the PDP of the Democratic Party of the Peoples “against party desires.”
According to them, the legislator “lost the general election by a wide margin, but the court of appeal declared him winner based on technicians. We want to resume our mandate that he took the courts.”
They accused the legislator of not having a position of electoral circle “and is hardly seen in their electoral circle.
“He never held a City Hall meeting to interact with his voters and remains completely disconnected from the people.
“We don't see him at home, we don't see him on TV and we don't see him in the seat during the Nass sessions.
“He has shown a lack of commitment to the well-being of his constituents, not addressing pressing issues that affect the people of the federal electoral circle Igbo-Etiti/Uz-Uwani,” the Constituents said.
The letter claimed that, according to the constitutional requirements, the petition was duly signed by at least 50% of the voters registered in the electoral circle.

Health unions begin indefinite strike on Saturday
Health unions begin indefinite strike on Saturday
– African Latest Nigerian news, political trends and trending Gossips in Nigeria. Stay ahead with the latest in Afri news.
Healthcare unions under the aegis of the Joint Health Sector Unions, JOHESU, and the Assembly of Healthcare Professionals Associations, AHPA, have declared an indefinite nationwide strike commencing on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
Unions attributed the industrial action to the Federal Government’s persistent failure to implement the adjusted Consolidated Health Salary Structure, CONHESS, and to address long-standing welfare and systemic issues affecting health workers.
JOHESU National President, Comrade Kabiru Minjibir, announced this in a statement on Friday.
This development comes at a time when the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, is already on indefinite strike over unpaid arrears of hazard pay, poor working conditions and inability to implement agreed social reforms.
DAILY POST reports that JOHESU represents several major unions including the Nigeria Medical and Health Workers Union, the Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals, the Association of Senior Staff of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions, and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions.
JOHESU emphasized that the delay in implementing the adjusted CONHESS remained the main trigger, noting that several other unresolved issues also influenced the decision to terminate services.
“The crux of the matter in the present circumstances is the long delay in the implementation of the report of the High Level Body, HLB, of the Committee on the adjusted Consolidated Health Salary Structure since its presentation to the Presidential Committee on Salaries and Wages in 2022,” the statement read.
