Mayor of Rio de Janeiro vetoes the performance of American pop star Bruno Mars

Eduardo Paes, mayor of Rio de Janeiro, in a post on his social networks reported, this Wednesday (8), that due to the proximity to the date of the municipal elections, he will not give permission for singer Bruno Mars' show, which would take place at on the fourth and fifth of October, it happens.

Despite the new dates, the first two shows will take place on complicated dates for the Brazilian electoral calendar.

Municipal elections are scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 6th, throughout the national territory. And, according to the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, this will be a problem.

In a recent post on his social networks, Paes informed that due to the proximity to the election date, he will not be able to give permission for the two Shows that were scheduled for the city of Carioca.

He states that due to the difficulty in mobilizing the number of professionals needed to cover the elections, they will not be able to meet the demands necessary for the show, therefore, there will be no way for both shows on days four and five to take place.

Paes also informed that the city of Rio de Janeiro had already passed this information to Bruno Mars' team, but that tickets were still made available.

The mayor stressed, however, that Rio is open to other dates and that his decision is motivated by the date of the elections and nothing else.

Retrospect

Bruno Mars, who recently announced that he would do a small concert tour in Brazil after the success of his last visit to Brazilian lands in 2023, during his participation in The Town festival, promised other meetings with the Brazilian public.

Scheduled for October 2024, the first of these shows would take place in Rio de Janeiro, on the fourth and fifth, and he would also pose in São Paulo, on the eight and ninth of the same month.

However, after tickets sold out in record time, the singer and his team announced four more shows in Brazil. Two of these new shows in São Paulo, on the 12th and 13th of October and two more in Brasília, on the 17th and 18th of the same.

The measure came to please fans who were very excited by the friendliness of the singer who was embraced by the population and even earned the very Brazilian nickname “Bruninho”.
