Barcelona defender Araújo back home the day after concussion,
FC Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday. The 23-year-old Uruguayan stayed there since Tuesday evening, after he was taken away by ambulance during the home game against RC Celta.
Araújo went to the ground after he had hit his head against that of teammate Gavi during an aerial duel. Even during the match, Barcelona reported that the defender had suffered a concussion.
The Spanish top club thus took away the biggest concerns about Araújo, who seemed to be in very bad shape on the field. His situation has improved to such an extent that he is allowed to leave the hospital.
“Araújo’s additional tests had a good result. He has been discharged from the hospital. Depending on his recovery, it will be determined when he can play again,” Barcelona said in a brief statement on Wednesday.
Araújo is this season’s starting player at Barcelona. So far, the counter in all competitions stands at 42 games and four goals on behalf of the club of Dutchmen Frenkie de Jong, Memphis Depay and Luuk de Jong.
Barcelona won the match against RC Celta partly thanks to a goal by Memphis with 3-1. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the other two goals for coach Xavi’s team. ‘Barça’ seems to be on its way to second place in La Liga.
