Known to be mentally disturbed, Orochimaru makes people turn away from him. For a time, Jiraiya believed that Orochimaru’s twisted personality trait had been developed by the loss of his parents when he was very young. 

Sasuke states that Orochimaru set his focus aside after leaving Team Hiruzen. With a relentless desire for immortality, he began to train Sasuke, intending to obtain the young man’s Sharingan. 

A detail about the character’s personality is also his greatest weakness: arrogance. Even though he has no apparent trace of morality in his personality, Orochimaru has great ability to deal with the human mind and is extremely sagacious.
