William and Harry with Kate and Meghan in “peace reunion” inspires debate on social media

A video exposing the contrast in chivalry between Princes William and Harry, with their respective wives, Princess Kate Middleton and actress and Duchess Meghan Markle, caused quite a stir on social media.

The video was recorded during a moment of “reunion of peace”where the quartet gathered at the gates of Windsor Palace to see the messages and flowers left by the subjects of Queen Elizabeth (1926-2022) and to talk to the people present at the site who were there to pay tribute to the recently deceased monarch.

The four left the place together, inside a royal car, after spending a few minutes talking to their subjects.

The difference in the two brothers' posture was revealed just before they got into the car. William and Middleton barely touched each other and soon went to different sides of the car. Harry, on the other hand, kept one of his arms around Meghan's back the whole time, and walked alongside her to open the door and only after closing it did he go to the other side of the car.

“Harry opens the door for his wife and checks that she is safe. Will doesn’t. Case closed,” one person wrote on Twitter in response to the video that was released. “Harry is a gentleman, William looks like their father.”assessed another. “Harry is the true king and Diana’s legitimate son. Look how he takes care of his wife.”said another person.

A royal fan wrote: “One thing is for sure: he will not treat his wife the way his father treated his mother. That’s what the British don’t understand. He opened the car door of his own free will and his wife thanked him. That’s mutual respect.”. Another person praised: “He is a good husband.”

Harry's recent years have been quite turbulent in terms of his relationship with the British Royal Family. He and Meghan Markle resigned from their royal roles in January 2020 and currently live in the Californian city of Montecito, along with their children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1, who is named after Elizabeth II's childhood nickname.

Harry and Markle's public reunion with William and Middleton was encouraged by King Charles III as a sign of royal unity amid their grief over the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
