Despite appearing briefly during the first and last episodes of “Round 6”the new hit Netflix series, the character known as 'Salesman' – played by actor Gong Yoo – has been the subject of several hypotheses from fans of the series. Due to so many theories, the creator and director of the plot, Hwang Dong-hyuk, decided to clarify this mystery about who this character is..

“I know there are a lot of theories floating around about this character, and I have to say: the fans are more creative than me in this regard.”confessed the filmmaker in an interview with the portal Chosun. “When I was writing the scripts, I decided that the 'Salesman' would just be a former employee of the game who gained the trust of the creator, and was 'promoted' to work outside, in the real world”.

In “Squid Game,” Gong Yoo's character appears at a subway station during the first episode of the series, approaching the protagonist, Gi Hun (Lee Jun-jae) and offering him a place in a deadly game that is part of the plot. Actor Gong Yoo is one of South Korea's biggest stars today, starring in several hit series such as “Train to Busan” and “Goblin.”

The plot of Netflix's new k-drama revolves around a group of hundreds of citizens with financial problems who are chosen to participate in a sick survival game where they compete for a cash prize. Hwang Dong-hyuk's creation also features stars Lee Byung-hyun, Park Hae-soo, Jung Ho-yeon and Wi Ha-joon in its cast, and its 9 episodes are now available to watch on Netflix's streaming platform.
